Default SMILE Questions.

I want to use as much room as i can in each room, so i have deleted everyhting from the room [exept doors] andre did it all, but when i try to jump up or down, i end up 'falling' through the screen..and i come back down from the top, and then well, everything egts farked...is there a way to remove the scrolling limiter found in the rooms?

How do i place ramps?

How do i rotate tiles?

How do i place monsters?

i have more questions, but i will just shoot these out for now, i am really intersted in makeing a module for super metroid, and am glad to finaly see an editor for it.

So many Questions, all with simple answer.

Ramps = Slope tile, slope tiles are found in the BTS menu in smile (on the right hand side)

you rotate tiles by clicking the flip horizontal/ flip vertical options in the main clipboard menu tab (also on the right handed said of the window)

You place more monster by opening a hex editor and adjusting the ebnemy population pointer to free space shown by "FF"s in the aproprieate bank

if you erased everyhting then you are falling through the floow cause theres no solid tiles to stop you. Scrolls can be edited via chaning the tile size to 8x8 (scroll editor) option in the views menu.

Experiment and explore the possibilites. LEARN take notes and ALWAYS KEEP A BACK-UP FILE

You can use SMILE to make a developer's room with all the items available for you to pick up, for testing purposes.

haven't figured out hot to place items..or else i would have done that already..

and it think it woudl take too long to go through each room copy pasteing them...

also, after editing the first room [with the ship]...i got invisable solids in the air..and they are blocking passage...i enabled scrolling for the entire room..so it isn't that...what i did was delete everyhting on the right side of the room exept the doors [the doors are still agaisnt the wall]..but above the bottom door..is an invisable wall..

any ideas what the cause could be?
Edited by mrblowtatoes on 10/06/05 02:12 PM.

Firstly don't bother editing the game if you hink placing a few plms in each room is gonna take too long, making the rooms, redirecting the doors, and the placing enemies, scrolls and saves tkae longer than you could tolerate aparently.

Second, you don't paster plm's anywhere. you have to go into a hex editor, find free space, and change the pointer in smile via the pointer editor.

Yes, you simply place solid block tiles instead of air.... double click on the tile icon in the right hand tile tab and veery tile of that kind in the room will be highlighted in a red box

i don't care about placeing them..i do care about searching through 300 or so diffrent rooms for each item..and then going back and searching for the room i was in to place the items, i do how ever think a list of the items would be a nice thing to have

[i have already found the list, so no need ]

and how am i to delete them if i cannot select them?..and i certainly don't want to delete every tile from the room...
