Default Wine version 3.0

Wine version 3.0 for Linux has been released:

URL: https://www.winehq.org/

Here it is the official announcement:
URL: https://www.winehq.org/news/2018011801

The news got slashdotted with some interesting info:

"The Wine (Wine Is Not an Emulator) project has been updated today to version 3.0, a major release that ends 2017 in style for the open-source compatibility layer capable of running Windows apps and games on Linux-based and UNIX-like operating systems. Almost a year in the works, Wine 3.0 comes with amazing new features like an Android driver that lets users run Windows apps and games on Android-powered machines, Direct3D 11 support enabled by default for AMD Radeon and Intel GPUs, AES encryption support on macOS, Progman DDE support, and a task scheduler. In addition, Wine 3.0 introduces the ability to export registry entries with the reg.exe tool, adds various enhancements to the relay debugging and OLE data cache, as well as an extra layer of event support in MSHTML, Microsoft's proprietary HTML layout engine for the Windows version of the Internet Explorer web browser."

"Wine (originally an acronym for "Wine Is Not an Emulator") is a compatibility layer capable of running Windows applications on several POSIX-compliant operating systems, such as Linux, Mac OSX, & BSD.

It is open source software under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License.

Default WINE updated to version 3.0

Linux and MacOS users rejoice, as your favorite game may now be playable without having to boot into Windows.

WINE is an emulation layer for Windows applications/games that runs on most Linux distributions and MacOS. Itís been in active development for years, and with various free companion applications such as PlayOnLinux and PlayOnMac, itís also been made available for non-techy people that donít like the idea of tinkering too much.

To get WINE 3.0, you can use your Linux distros package or update manager or you can wait for the companion application you use to be updated to automatically grab the required files. If you have issues, report them on WINEís bugzilla.
