PC version. There are no PS1/PS2 versions to my knowledge.

OK, I'll zip up 3KD1.XA and send that. It's supposed to sound like Window Washer's Dream (which is here) but Xantippe ends up ripping it as a rather nasty-sounding 22Khz stereo track (which is rather unusual since everything else gets ripped as mono).

One thing I've been noting is while most of the tracks don't sound as good the MP3s once decoded (probably because they end up at 22Khz) they do sound mostly correct. The above track is the one exception I've found (there may be others, but I haven't tried ripping them all).

I really should make a 'What U Hear' recording of the tracks from in SimCity 3000 UK Edition, so I can compare them to the MP3s and Xantippe rips.

That's because the format this game seems to use is 8bit 11025hz Stereo or is compressed with something similar to ADPCM (which makes more sense)...and thus the converting/extracting tools seem to upsample the sound files and you lose quality among other shit. Sound Forge and Cool Edit Pro recognized the waves after a bit of playing with the sound formats as 11025hz 8-bit stereo--which tells me there's somekind of compression at work here. They still sounded like crap...read below for my suggesiton.

Yes do that and make the MP3 and forget about extracting the actual raw wave. I ran into the same problem with a few other PC games where I wanted the actual raw wave converted so I could make an MP3 of it...couldn't figure out how to clean it up enough. I have no clue how to interpret the compression to begin to clean the wave up some. Maybe somebody can use my finds to help the progress. I've hit a wall.
