Simple question

I can't for the life of me figure out what some of the codes after usual rom names are on certain places to acquire roms, such as when I look for Pokemon Blue it has codes in parentheses and brackets like [S] and [!]. I'm fairly sure I saw a list of these codes years ago and what they all meant, like [!] is tested and works, but anything else I'm unsure. Any help?
