Default Metroid: Other M

So, from the trailers and the pics, what's your opinions on the game ? I loved the Prime series and Fusion/Zero Mission/Super Metroid, but I don't know, something about this game, at least from the previews, feels not right. Granted, once I try the game (2010), I may change my opinion.

It looks like it could be cool, but in the end, it all depends on one thing: will the gameplay work? Like, I love the 2D metroids at least 10 times more than the prime ones, which were kind of cool, but this looks like it's trying to take the middle ground. Will it feel right?

What I am looking forward to however is looking into Samus' past. All I know about it is what I read in Nintendo Power in the 90's... And a bit about Adam, of course.

Yeah, it has potential, but given what's been shown there isn't really any way to tell how it's going to play yet (at least I couldn't figure it out). Like Max said, it would be nice to have more of a canon insight into her past.

I mean, I think since we're even talking about it we have some of the basics (like how her home planet was all but destroyed by a brigade of Space Pirates led by Ridley, how the Chozo took her in, made the power suit, and taught her how to fight...) but to have it fleshed out would be nice.

If it has enough of Samus' background, I'll play it even if the controls turn out to be terrible.

Game looks promising enough, 3D, 2D and FPS in one game (depending on trailer and screenshots)

Why? Between Metroid, Smash Brothers, Pokemon, Link and anything with Mario's name on it, they're set.

Besides, I was always hoping for a followup to Hello Kitty's Roller Rescue.

If anything, in my opinion, Square/Enix needs a new franchise. Im so sick of Final Fantasy being pounded into the ground... They could at LEAST pick up one of many abandoned franchises... COUGH*Chrono Trigger*COUGH (I'd pay 80 bucks for a NEW installment in the series, tying trigger into cross.. filling in the missing gaps would be nice.)

Sorry, not trying to threadjack.

I hear that the main reason that's not happened yet is because any new entry in the Chrono series would be made by the team behind Chrono Cross, since they're the only ones with any relevant experience. But they're busy with Final Fantasy XI/XIV and various expansions. Since the online Final Fantasy games are likely to remain popular and profitable indefinitely in Japan, the Chrono Cross team seem fated to be tied up for a long time yet.

It's a real pity. I'd give any new Chrono game a good long look myself, but no such game is ever going to be as profitable as what the team are doing now.
