Default GBC music player?

I'm interested in extracting the music from a GBC file, and all of the music players I have found (on this site and others) seem to be for listening to the music in a GBS file. Can anyone point me to a way to get the music out of a GBC file, ro a way to listen to the music?
Thanks in advance.

Download the gbs files, then download a GBS plugin for Winamp or whatever you use. Simple as that.

Note: READ THE POST
GBC files, not GBS files. As my post says, I need a GBC reader, not a GBS reader. (GBC is the Gameboy Color only games, while GBS is the regular Gameboy games)

If you look in the archives with the GBS in them (GB and GBC games alike), many actually come with .GB ROM files that can be played on any emulator (and presumably, on an actual GB/GBC if you have the right hardware).

I snooped around some more and couldn't find a .GB file for the game I'm using. I think it's because the game was quite literally only able to be playing in a Gameboy Color (You'd put in a regular gameboy and it would tell you it was only compatible with a GBC). I Don't know that much about gameboy roms, but I suspect you're suggesting that there is a copy of the b/w game as well as the color game inside the cartridge, and that the people who ripped it may have ripped both.

Uh, no...just that the sound data seems to work on either system (don't know if it does in all cases for sure). At least, I know the GBS rips of the Zelda 'Oracle' games are accompanied by one of those .GB music player ROMs. What game is it you are talking about, anyhow?

Well, I tried the ROM with some of the .GBS players an plugins to no avail. One, I had to select All file types as opposed to all supported files, and then I didn't get anything out of it. =/
I don't want to have to resort to plugging the headphone jack of my Gameboy straight into my mic port, but we shall see how this develops. Thanks for your help so far.

You're not going to find a player that plays GBC files because a GBC is a rom, not a sound rip. GBS files are sound rips from GB or GBC (or any non-GBA/non-DS Gameboy rom) files, so that's what you should be looking for.

You'd have to rip the music yourself. You'd have to find the game's music code and music data, extract it from the rom, and then slap on a GBS header. This requires some GB asm knowledge.

I don't know of any guides, and there certainly isn't any automated program for doing it, so you may be out of luck.

Why are you trying to use the ROM with a GBS player? I'm all confused now...the ROM would work in an emulator, such as Visualboy Advance, but most dedicated players are just going to use the GBS file.

Argh, is that what he meant? I guess I totally misunderstood him. <img src=smilies/retard.gif>
