Yes, use a hex editor and change every F to a 0. Then, when you start the rom, you can point and click the title screen and make it look really cool. <img src=smilies/retard.gif>

Or as an alternative, something like Tile Layer Pro should work.

If you want to hack the title screen from any other game besides SMB1 then there is a doc at romhacking.com by InVerse about title screen hacking and its pretty decent.

Some advice;

Take a look at the text in the SMB1 header. There are a lot of duplicate tiles (straight lines across Mario etc). You'll only see one in your tile layer, so if really want to hack that title screen, you'll have to move things around in hex also. What I found is that you can puzzel those pieces into any set of words you want! I hacked the whole thing to say, "River City Mario" in the same, identical style. I never actually edited a single tile, I just rearranged the peices in hex!

You need time and patience, and it helps to have a meticulous nature. I miss ROMhacking... someday I really need to get back into it again.

That is an interesting question. It looks like there is no Save button in this editor. But when you click Result button it gives you some hex codes. Maybe you need to insert them to rom or something...?<img src=smilies/retard.gif>

You click the button marked Result, then click Save To File.
