So I went on a eBay bender and bought up some stuff I thought would be an improvement on my current setup.
Replacing my Core 2 Duo E7500 is a Core 2 Quad Q8300. $113 after s/h. A difference of $36.99 I'd pay on my usual shopping spot, Newegg. 430MHz slower than my current CPU but it's a Quad and from research on the web I maybe able to get this up to around 3.5GHz.
Next up replacing my Mobo which is a Biostar G41-M7 is a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R. $71 after s/h. According to this site:
Overclocking the Gigabyte motherboard this mobo is a very good overclocker. At least for the E6750 they used to test with.
Replacing my current memory which is 2, 1GB sticks of G Skill F2-6400CL5-1GBNQ DDR2 800 RAM is 2, 1GB sticks of Super Talent T8UA1G8C5 DDR2-800 RAM. Super Talent isn't widely know like Corsair or Patriot or anything but I've read that these modules overclock well. $35.98 even free shipping.
Finally for now, or until the rest of my stuff on eBay sells, replacing my current CPU cooler which is a ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro is a Zalman CNPS9500AT CPU Cooler. Heard they were good for cooling Quads. $28 after s/h.
I think next up will be a PSU. Probably be a hec X-Power Pro 600 600W Continuous @ 40°C ATX12V V2.2 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Power Supply
Perhaps a upgrade from my Geforce GTS 250 video card too. Just don't know what yet. Something similar with a little more power and not to expensive. Definately under $130 at most.
Any opinions. Think this is a decent choice upgrade?
