Default My Nintendo DS is not switching into GBA mode

I don't know what the hell happened, but I was able to run the GBA mode in my DS even with no slot 2 cart in it. Now after I inserted my new ez flash 3 in 1...it stopped doing it and I can't get to boot in gba mode....help anyone?

Never mind, I'm an idiot...I have to copy a file into it first...I found the 3 in one expansion pack and it works good except that it's not saving the sram games...but I guess I have to patch the rom....

Aaaah, good, you figured it out. Yeah, the 3-in-1 is basically a RAM pack...you can use it to run GBA stuff but it doesn't actually have an GBA code stored in it except when you load it onto the thing (and then your slot-1 card, presumably an EZ-Flash, takes care of switching to GBA mode).

If you want a good patcher, try the program GBATA. If you can't find it anywhere, let me know and I'll put up for download, or shoot you an e-mail with it.

Thanks for the help...I got the programs but I'm more intrigued about launching them straight from the DS-X's menu by "converting" them into nds roms. I'm trying NDSStation 1.2.1 but all I get is the neoflash compo title on the top and a black screen at the bottom even when I select to run it from PSRAM....I guess I'll try gbaldr to see if that works...

Converting them? Does this 'wrap' the GBA title in a loader that loads it into the 3-in-1 and then executes GBA mode or something? I think I read about gbaldr on GBAdev...it sounded like people had decent enough luck with that proggie though apparently there is another program like this made by another dev called Rudolph.

NDSStation I've never heard of...does it work like I'm guessing above?

Yup...that's why I said "converting" in quotes...a wrapper that will execute GBA mode...gbaldr can "burn" the rom into NOR which takes 4-5 minutes...whereas with NDSStation you can use PSRAM which takes about 1 minute to transfer...

gbaldr seems to only "burn" to NOR, not psram...unless I overlooked something...guess I'm stuck with the 3in1 tool for now...

Well....it didn't last very long...I got an R4 and tried both the patched opera rom and a clean rom with rudolph's tools and it won't recognize the expansion ram or the rumble function in it....oddly enough I can run GBA games from RAM but that's all it does.

Then I went back to my DSX and it didn't recognize the expansion ram either on the Opera browser <img src=smilies/banghead.gif>

From a 3-in-1 to a fucking 1-in-1 <img src=smilies/banghead.gif>

Edit: Ok, Lemme elaborate:

1) Homebrew does detect the expansion RAM and can use it. Opera is not recognizing it as the "official" expansion ram..whether I run Rudoplh's tools/activate "Expansion Ram" or just run a patched rom.

2) I used to be able to use it via a "patched" rom using my DSX. Well to check and see if I screwed things up, I fired it up on my DSX. It's no longer recognizing it as it used to!

3) Also the rumble function does not work, whether I patch or run the Rudolph's tools. I tried on the R4 not on the DSX.

Hm, well, if homebrew can use it I'd say the actual RAM is working properly. You tried repatching the ROM from a clean dump? Have you done anything else like update 'system software', firmware, whatever of your flashcart? Maybe there's a new patch?

I dunno, I don't know much about patching Opera. :P

I edited my last message but for some reason it didn't save...

The solution is to use version 1.8 of the 3-in-1 tools, just like that annoying kid on youtube was using...

Ah, so something in a newer version broke the compatibility?
