Default Tell us what good games you've played recently

All right, if there's any common thread that unites us here, it's video games, right? So what have you all been playing that's worth talking about?

I had tried it before, but I recently had a "clicking" experience with Thunder Force IV on the Genesis (check out the Saturn version if you can, it's a bit better). Even though this is one of those cruel shooters where you often don't know what hit you, I'm finding it to be a really solid game nonetheless. The sweet parallax and FM music are an embodiment of the best of the era, too.

What about you?

Lately for me, it's been No More Heroes again (which is great...I want to see another game with the Travis in it so bad, needs a sequel) and LostWinds (one of the launch Wiiware titles, it's pretty fun and looks good...worth it for anyone looking for a platforming/adventure title), both for the Wii, and The World Ends with You for the DS (a fun real time action/RPG from Squeenix. Great art style, and it's a lot of fun too...battles take place on both screens which can take getting used to, but it's so very satisfying to demolish enemies on both screens at once).

You know, speaking of old Mario games, there's been something I've wanted to ask everyone around here for while but never got around to.

What are the best SMW hacks? I've been playing the original here and there, and even though I really enjoy it, I often wish there were more levels that offered fast-paced platforming with dangerous, tricky jumps. Even though it's easy, Donut Plains 3 is one of my favorite levels in the game for this reason (try it as fast as you can capeless). Moving platforms are my favorite. Are there any particular good hacks for my taste?

I know this isn't quite your question, but since I haven't really played many SMW hacks, how about some hacks for other mario games?
Be sure to check out "Extra Mario Bros" (a hack of the original that is seriously like a fusion of Metroid and the original Super Mario Bros...VERY much recommended), and the Super Mario Bros 3 hack "Mario Adventure" if you haven't.

If you can't find Extra Mario Bros, let me know and I'll dig out a link to it (I put it up on my blog somewhere, so I should be able to find it).

Sigh.
Nothing new...but having fun playing Breath Of Fire (SNES) and Pokemon Emerald.
Oh, yeah, and Tiger Woods Golf 2005 for my GC.

Got a copy of crisis core. The combat system takes a little time to get use to but the story so far is great.

Duke3d and Doom2.....courtesy of dosbox. Man, does that bring back memories. We need to figure out how to get dosbox a tcp/ip driver and do net play.

And I'm REALLY out of shape. My fingers can't seem to react as quickly as they did 10-15 years ago.
