When that's what we're ready to do, wee'll get some temporary people to help out for a day and re-submit everything to the new database. There's plenty of people who can't be full-time staffers but who would help out for a few hours while we get everything pushed into the new database, I'm sure. So if we have a download system all ready to go (apparently we're going with Olate) then let's hear some suggestions about other systems. How do you think we should do the front page and news submissions? What about the "Articles" section? Should we keep it?

I can make olate have a news page, and I can make it so we don't have to re-submit everything, if everything is stored in sql right now. It would be retarded to spend hours re-submitting everything.

Nothing is stored in SQL. I guess you could write a script that goes through and parses the data from the HTML and then resubmits the files automatically, but then you'd get a bunch of outdated files and descriptions. It all has to be done by hand in order to get new, updated files and info. Also, if you use Olate's news page, how do you propose to set up a news submission queue? I've looked at the code for its news thing and it would be a lot of work to change it all. It seems like a better diea to use a different method for posting news and just leaving Olate to downloads, which is what it's good at.

Swamp and I came up with what I think is a better and easier to manage way of submitting and posting news. It's late now, but I'll PM you tomorrow about it and see what you think.
