I've been offered and turned down like 3 invites so far. Personally I don't see the fuss about Gmail.

My main turnoff is that it's still a beta. I'm probably the only person that actually takes beta testing seriously rather than just being like "omg I get to use it early" [img]/wwwthreads/images/icons/tongue.gif[/img]. Plus I already have (and have had for quite a while) all of the features it offers via Yahoo and Thunderbird. Plus I don't even know if GMail has pop3/smtp access.

I see G-mail as a big fad, mostly. Once it's open to the public it'll be just another free e-mail provider. Even if it's a step up from yahoo/hotmail/etc... it's only a slight step up... and working with an e-mail app still beats the shit out of any web-based interface.

But I dunno... maybe there's something I'm missing. I mean people were actually paying money for invites... which baffled my mind. Who would pay for a free service? <img src=smilies/retard.gif>
