Default Why is it online game players are rude?

I mean, take Ragnarok Online for instance...most of the players are asian and under 16...most of ALL players are under 16. You can't tell me that ALL children in this age group act this way. I played on this one server called AndzRO...the server owner has to be like 14--as well as the GMs have to be 14. They act egotistical and flat out rude--they harrass the community as a whole. And alot of the players act juvenile too...

So are all multiplayer games that way? I've played alot of them...and the verdict is mostly and sadly...yes.

For the most part, I'd have to agree with you. EQ didn't start out that way, but the tide quickly turned when the game went south. And yes, these two are different "entities" if that even makes sense. The shit started when the origina team of coders left, and the shit-takers that don't know how to code took over. Since then, the game has no concept of balance, and the players are downright rude.

HOPEFULLY, World of Warcraft isn't inflicted with this shit. Actually, I can't wait for that game to be finally released.

I guess it boils down to children trying to be "1337" when they have no concept of real life.

Yea, it's like in RO if you have a high leveled character it's like you're god and should automatically be worshipped.

It's the IRC generation of angry, rebellious kids.... obviously not all kids, but certainly the kind of kids that would spend hours on end playing an online game to escape from a poor reality at home or school. I'm not talking about all online kids, but certainly a good net of them would explain thier need for a power trip elsewhere.

I've had to deal with this problem playing Socom II and Resident Evil Outbreak. It's much worse in Socom since you can use voice chat. People talk shit to you for no reason, or they'll vote you off if join a game late. I remember I created the screen name, "2 G@Y 4 U", just to see what kind of reaction I would receive, regardless of how well I was playing. Well, let me tell you something, I was voted from almost all of the games I joined, and if they didn't vote me, my team would make sport of me and harass me for "being gay". Although this one kid was going on a rant about how he hates people and asked why I had that name, and I told him it was a joke to piss people off. Then, he said that it wasn't a joke since I sounded gay. So, I asked him how does he know what gay people sound like and he just shut the fuck up. I don't play Socom anymore because most of the people I play with a whiny-voiced children who'd rather trash talk or talk about non-game related topics than play the game correctly.

Resident Evil Outbreak hasn't been that bad for me, except for when I encounter a cheater or TK'er (Team Killer). But there's a list of players one should avoid on GameFAQs, so I just add said cheater, TK'er or bad player to that list. What really bothers me about Outbreak is how Capcom does nothing to moderate the chat rooms. There's a group of no-life, immature little bastards who call themselves NSSX who constantly spam the chat rooms with the letter X. It's gotten to the point where sometimes you can't even chat with other players due to the constant spamming. Hell, I've even called and complained to Capcom about this, yet they do nothing.

It's people like the ones I talked about who ruin the online gaming experience.

Default With something like FFXI it depends largely on the server.

Unfortunately, the game selects a random server for you when you first register, so you're pretty well screwed if you're hoping to get onto a specific server right off the bat. However, you can get someone to buy you a world pass for the server he's on right off the bat, so that's good. It costs the sender 1000gil, and it costs you another character (or deleting your current one) since characters are non-transferable.

For example, I was originally on Cerberus. Sadly, it's a useless server, filled with nothing more than either low-level lamers and high-level assholes. Every single person that I've talked to, including a friend of mine who was on Cerberus, has agreed. The way I describe it to people is that it's the Florida of FFXI - it's where people go to be miserable, get old, and die.

Fortunately, some kind soul snagged me a world pass for Phoenix, and it's an entirely different story on there. What really clued me in to the fact that it was a better server is when I was running around trying to level just after recreating my character, someone came up to me and offered me a Shell Shield for free, since he didn't want to throw it out but didn't have enough inventory room. Sure, it's only worth 100 gil, the equivalent of about $10 in real-world terms, but it's the thought that counts. On top of that, there are lots of pleasant people around (and lots of people in general), a booming economy (compared to Cerberus), and it's just a great server. I've only had one run-in with an asshole, and that was easily remedied by responding to his threats that he would get a GM involved that he should get a GM envolved - because the GM would tell him that he's being a fucktard - and then putting him on /blist.

Because they are too ugly to have sex with a women so they take their revenge on the internet for all the girls who refused to have sex with 'em. Bah, not really, but I do believe in Mr. Saturn theory.
