I finished Metroid - Other M today...
Ok, now I can put the disc back in it's case, and never touch it again...

I thought about playing this but I wanted to catch up with the rest of the games in the series. So far, I've beaten the original Metroid a few times and have played a combined 15 or so minutes of Metroid 2 and Super Metroid.

Really? You hate it that much? I haven't finished it yet (playing several things at once) but I've been enjoying it so far.

I haven't played it yet (since I don't have a Wii) but is it really that bad?

Well, it is a good game, but I don't see it as a Metroid game. It doesn't have the "wow" factor the primes had.

Ah, so you don't really hate it per se, it's just not what you're looking for in a Metroid game. I guess I can respect that...it does kind of change things up a bit from games in the series like Super Metroid. Actually, this makes me wonder...what did you think of Metroid Fusion? In some ways this game is more like Fusion (almost like the love child of Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion with a dash of Metroid Prime). OH yeah, and I was wondering...how challenging did you think it was? There's been a few times where I was pleasantly surprised at the difficulty, I was wondering if it was just me. :P

I've enjoyed it at least. I think it's more down to if you dislike the changes in the way the game plays and how it's story plays out (it's a lot more story driven than Prime and maybe even Fusion are). To me it's Metroid, but it's more...experimental? than most Metroid games. Ever since Metroid, the series has been building on it's roots. I'd say Other M builds on that, but it kind of branches out in a few unexpected ways, changing the formula a bit.
*edit*
I'm probably thinking about this too much. lol Having trouble sleeping tonight anyway.

I liked the story and cinematic sequences to this game. I'm not sure why people hated them so much... I just guess they had different expectations of Samus in their mind. It's not even like the cinematic sequences reveal too much about Samus anyway, all we do is hear her talk, and think outloud, that's about it.
In fact, I loved the cinematic aspect of the game... But that's all I thought of this game... it was a movie.
This isn't going to spoil anything... But the ending absolutely sucked, and overall, the gameplay is horrible. If you look back at the gameplay, and you finish the game you think, "Uh, wait what... there's not much gameplay here at all..."
The only fun part is collecting the items. It's also the part the makes the least sense.
It took me 7 hours to complete this game.
I usually don't say this... but... unless you're a hardcore Metroid fan, and need to OWN every title... Rent this, finish it, then return it the next day. Unless you LOVE the movie aspects of the game, then you can keep it as an interactive movie.

No, I haven't.
I can't afford new games.
(besides, my girlfriend has my Wii)
