The Mother 3 Translation Project is completed!
Yay!
Wanted to mention this in case anyone hasn't noticed, I know a lot of people have been excited and eagerly awaiting this patch, haven't tried it yet, but I'm about to.

I really tried to play Earthbound, but quit playing after a while. I can't get into the game.

Why didn't you like it, if I might ask? Maybe Mother 3 would interest you still...I do love EB, but as far as the story goes, Mother 3 is IMHO way way better and more interesting.

I don't know, I just can't get into the game. I find it... boring. Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, Lufia, Terranigma, Mana, Dragon Warrior, Xanadu, Breath Of Fire (just to name some), etc... I like a lot of RPGs. When playing these RPGs, I always have troubles to quit the game, because I always want to know (or see again) what will happen. I just never been in Mother. It's like that, I can't really explain it, I just can't get into it.

I dug out my linker (which I actually bought from the ZD store back when) and tried it out, lots of fun and seemingly a good translation. The ol' SP is finally going to get some use again.

I can explain my problem!
From the beginning I was not fond of the mundane main characters and initial settings, and that was not helped by the puerile graphics. I did rent the game years ago (despite some rather vulgar marketing of which I was not fond), and played it for a bit, but never came back to it, not even in this era of illegal free utopia. I'd seen in promotional materials (plus eventual internet encounters with the likes of Starmen and Messrs Saturn) that there was some stuff about space aliens and presumably an accompanying plot of greater consequence than is first evident but I simply lacked the endurance to endure for that long what I was not enjoying.
However, I didn't like Zelda 64, either, so I likely have deeper issues than are apparent from my reaction here.

Ah, yes, apparently you are broken. My condolences.
fwiw I've never played Earthbound, just Mother 1 and now 3. I do know that I prefer the Mother NSF to the Eartbound SPCs, though.
