Technical Problems with MGS2: Substance PC DVD-Rom version.

Okay, so I bought a copy of it today at Big Lots for $6. On the reccomended settings it says:
1.2GHz Intel, Pentium or AMD
256MB RAM
Supported DirectX 8.1 compliant 3D accelerator card w/64MB VRAM
16x DVD-Rom drive
7.6GB free hard disk space

Well, my comp's over-qualified, on account of my having:
2.41GHz AMD Athlon 64 Processor
256MB nVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE video car
1024MB DDR2 533MHz RAM

With all that, I should have no problems playing it. Wrong, when I load the friggin game, the characters won't show up. All the people in the game are invisible. I have no fucking clue why the hell it's doing that. Is there some glitch that I should download a patch for, or should I just go back to Big Lots and exchange it for another game, like Project Snowblind or Brothers in Arms?

I searched nvidia's website, seems I already have the latest ones for that model.

Already did, the game requires Directx 8.1, I have 9.0c.

Google for the patches for the game.

Done, all the patches do is give the damn game ATI support. Also, according to some online reviews, they say it's virtually unplayable unless I have a controller; fortunately, I was planning on buying a PS2 to USB cable anyway. Still, if there's no way I can get this damn game to work properly, I'm just gonna exchange it for something else.

I should look for it. But I was gonna say, the only Konami game ports that have ever worked are Silent Hill 2 and 3. 4's trash that resets my computer at random, and I've heard MGS1 is unplayable.
