Re: What's the fuss about G-mail?
I have to agree with you. I have a GMail account, and I use it sometimes, I like the gig of storage. But since it's beta, and they are giving out invites like there's fire in the building, I bet you anything they will start charging for that gig of storage once they come out of beta.

It does not, and will not.
I personally like my Gmail account, and have switched to using it exclusively. Many of its features appeal to me.

I figured as much.
Give me Yahoo anyday, then. Like I said before... no web-based interface could hold a candle to something like Thunderbird. It's got the search, it's got the filtering, it's got the 'conversation' thing, and I've got way more than 1 gig on my HD for e-mail space.

You sorta can, with http://jaybe.org/info.htmPop Goes the G-Mail</a>.
And with interesting uses like GmailFS and the blogging add-on, it's gone crazy-skew.

My brother started a G-Mail farm. 30 accounts.

Gmail does everything you listed. and more. I would be more inclined to say that no application-based email client could hold a candle to an entirely web based 'client' in fact. No matter where I go, Gmail looks and acts the same. I don't have to download updates. I can access any message from anywhere in the blink of an eye. I don't have to worry about losing imporatnt saved mail when I format (I can't count the number of times this has happened.)
As far as I'm concerned, Gmail beats anything anyone else has to offer thus far.
