Bah, but piracy has always been a part of the appeal. Granted, it wasn't new games that were being stolen, but there was always bragging rights to having a huge collection of games. Those who preached the "roms are illegal and will land you in teh jail" credo the most fervently were the ones with the biggest collections. <img src=smilies/laff.gif>

Of course, this is totally speculation and pieced together through unscientific observation. Roms are illegal and will land you in teh jail!

I believe the 'craze' is over, but that's okay. We've stood the test of time, and there are other sites that are not dead and stay current. As far as I'm concerned, we're not going anywhere.

Quite frankly, we're still sharing the repercussions of the anti-ZD movement, imo. That movement lasted awhile. There were also several people who ruined things for a lot of people. I won't name names ;P

Morally, I don't feel that playing free games for dead systems is wrong. I don't care if you can, in fact, go out and get the system somewhere somehow. Or the games.

I have purchased many NES and SNES games back in the day. My NES doesn't really work anymore. Some of my games have been lost or stolen in the past. I feel no remorse living those memories again in emulation. Hell, I have Bionic Commando sitting in a drawer here somewhere, but I'm going to play it on emulation because A) It always works, B) It looks better, and C) It's more convenient.

We cover next gen emulation and always will, but we really are more about the classics. But we don't control the current news ;P

I don't know. Even if I still had all of my old console systems, I doubt that I'd want to take them with me whenever I moved or hook them up when I got a sudden urge to play "Keystone Kapers".

Emulation is beneficial in this aspect. I can relive the games of my youth without needing any more equipment than my laptop. The computer that can fill the role of a hundred other machines. That's why it appeals to me. I don't care about playing the game on the original system or using the original controller (the factory supplied VCS/2600 joystick was terrible), I just want to play the game.
