It's happened to me before. A lot, actually. Even a 100kb PDF will freeze my browser if the site is especially slow.

There's an extension in Firefox which allows you to save the PDF instead of displaying it in the browser, which helps things, at least. I don't know if this is possible in IE.

Yes, but it breaks the PDF's layout. Especially if it used tables.
