Well this is certainly odd. It's claiming that my file is not the American FF3 ROM. What happened? Can it not open patched or modified files?

There is a slim chance of hope though. Quite some time ago (probably over a year now) Yousei made a thread in here about a new version of FF3Ed, and had some impressive screenshots to show that off. If memory serves, the project was a long ways off from being completed, and for all we know it has probably been discontinued. <img src=smilies/cry.gif>

FF3Ed has some pretty nasty bugs too, here are the ones I know of so you can avoid them:
Do NOT under any circumstances select number 0551 of the dialogue. I can only guess there is some event code in that piece of dialogue and the editor doesn't know how to handle it.
Do NOT under any circumstances scroll all the way to the bottom of the dialogue. Doing so will cause map corruption and you'll lose access to the world map from the game.

Editing magic, items, and esper bonuses are fine. Those have no errors that I am aware of.

You can edit the maps, but you won't be able to move the locations of any towns or dungeons.

All I can think of. Hope it helps.

Here's a short tutorial on how to move them, keep in mind this is done via hex editor and not FF3Ed:

Is there anything on this page http://www.zophar.net/utilities/texted.html that might work? Text is after all the only thing I planned on using FF3Ed for anyway as everything else is basically done and I have no desire to modify the map.

No, all those utilities are outdated, you'd be better off using WindHex32 and a table file for text editing.

You can also open a clean ROM in FF3Ed, make your text changes, make a patch from that ROM, and aply that to your hack.

Can someone please tell me how to transfer the data for characters, etc. from my copy to that one? I assume you would make it into something to patch. How does one do this?
