Default Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3

hey everyone -

i hope this isn't a stupid question, but can anyone tell me why i can't get this rom to work? i've downloaded 4 different copies from 2 different locations, and i get nowhere fast every time.

when i run the rom, i get the gameboy player screen, and then the rom gives me a black screen with the words "your saved data is corrupted."

i've used the most current versions of visualboy advance, no$gba and rascalboy, but none of them seem to work (every other game i run works just fine though).

are all these copies just bad dumps? and if so, does anyone know where i can find a good dump? i own an actual copy of the game, so i suppose i could just play the damn thing on my actual gameboy, but this just bugs me.

any advice you guys can give would be most appreciated.

thanks,
-billy

ps - i've attached a screenshot of the error message for your viewing pleasure. it's in .png format.

It sounds to me like your saved data is corrupted.

You've just requested a rom....don't do it again. Maybe you should have read this before you posted.
You have a bad rom, btw.

Some newer roms have "odd" ways of saving their games and need to be patched in order to work with emulators or flash carts. The discussion of where to be obtain roms or these kinds of patches are not allowed on this forum, though. I suggest you search for it on your own or try a different forum.

The rom should have come with a .sav file. If it did, just apply that to fix it. If not, you need to go download one that does.

I didn't realize discussing the patches themselves was frowned upon, although I suppose it makes sense. I could've sworn someone linked me to a site with those patches from these boards.
