Default Help!!! Palm OS to NDS

Hello!

sorry - I need help, because I'm not familiar with that computer-console-gaming- and even thread stuff! I bought a NDS lite and additional japanese Kanji software for learning Kanji. Unfortunately I'm also a rookie in Japanese language, so I have problems with application. Now I found a perfect software for me, but its Palm OS based. My question: Is it possible to emulate (?) the Palm software to run on my NDS (moonshell)?

thank you very much

Moved this to General Emulation, where it belongs.

I'm not optimistic on this one though. I've never heard of any Palm OS emulators for the DS, and I don't know how possible one would be. There are numerous different versions of Palm OS, and I presume the system requirements get higher with each subsequent version. The latest version would probably be too much for the DS, but older versions may be possible to emulate. You didn't say what version of Palm OS this software is designed for, so it's impossible to say how plausible running it on a DS would be.

Still, even if it is possible, I don't think any exists. I may be wrong, but the situation isn't great if I'm right.

I've never heard of one, and I tend to keep plugged into the DS scene.

I know this doesn't help at all with the Palm OS to NDS question but it may help with your Kanji. There are many resources online for learning Kanji and Japanese but probably the best free software for learning languages I have found is called Byki Express. You have to find the Kanji packs on their website but there is plenty of content for many different languages. If your lucky you may even find ones that help with speaking as well. (some of them say the words that are on flash cards)

You can read some of their content from the website without downloading anything.

You can find BYKI Express HERE.

If that doesn't help here is a good resource for learning Japanese. It's using a book we used in my Japanese class. You don't really have to have the book for the resources. They have list of Kanji exercises, etc. This might help more since you are new to the language. That way you can cover basic vocabulary and such.

Usagi-Chan's Genki Resources

Also, if you haven't learned katakana and hiragana you should do that first. These are the backbones for learning the rest of the language and you'll need to know both Kanji and these two as well.

I find Usagi-chan's resources the most helpful.

Hope this helps some. If you need help finding information on how Japanese sentence structure works, conjugation, etc. let me know. I'll dig up some more links. There is a lot to it but if you practice everyday you'll get better. But these two resources should give you plenty of Kanji to work with.

I really don't see why. It sounds like a match made in heaven to be honest.

Yeah, it would be a pretty good match...Well, I have no idea how CPU intensive PalmOS is. Memory constraints could probably be an issue I bet, but then again, if you use a flashcart with built-in RAM you'd have up to 32 extra MB.
