Extracting sound files from ROMs and being able to playback and convert

So I want to know if there are any utilities that will allow me to extract the sound/music files from a ROM. To be specific, I want to rip the music from either a Master System or Game Gear ROM. Also, I'd be interested in something that will play them back and to convert them into an audio file, most media players use. Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
