Default Microsoft Handheld Game system to be announced?

Source: http://the-magicbox.com/gaming.htmThe Magicbox</a>

- Microsoft will be revealing a new handheld system tomorrow, which tentatively called Origami, the Origami is capable to play music, download music and videos, play exclusive video games like Halo and handle other multimedia contents. It is uncertain whether this handheld is targeting the gaming market like DS and PSP, or the mobile market like Blackberry.

Yeah. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rV1WGDW37c0This commerial of the Origama</a> was shown around a few days ago. Although recently someone who had talked with Microsoft reported that the video was 1 year old and was conceptual or something. Either way, I'll be interested to see it.

I bet they really could put a bluescreen on a PSP though. Didn't they get it to run Windows 95?<img src=smilies/mystery.gif>

This was posted over on NeoWin.net a couple of days ago. Judging by that, it's more of a smaller tablet PC than specifically a handheld gaming system, but I guess only time will tell.

--------
"Update - Origami revealed!

The cat, as they say, is out of the bag. Origami looks to be small (approx 7"), Tablet PC style device. A marketing company has a promo video for it online - see it here (click work, then 'brandtheatre', then Microsoft Origami). From the video, it would appear that these devices can play back music, connect to WiFi networks (and possibly Bluetooth devices), and has enough power to handle graphics work and games. Like Tablet PCs, Origami makes use of a pen input device, as well as buttons on either side of the screen. The video also reveals the device will be available in at least two colours (black / beige), and has a docking station to match. We await Thursday for more details."

Seen it the video already. It looks enormous. You see people in the video just carrying it around with one hand. Now doing that for any serious length of time would be uncomfortable even with my DS, and that thing is a lot bigger than my DS. I also saw one guy using it with a keyboard attatchment and I immediately said "It's a laptop! It's a fucking laptop!", which it is really.

Of course, it's all concept stuff and the finished product (if Microsoft really intends to go through with this) will probably be a lot different. It's still American though, so I expect it to be nearly as big and quite possibly designed by the same type of focus groups that gave us the original Xbox controller. How can Microsoft justify throwing all this money away on obvious turkeys when whole third-world nations are starving? Seriously...

That and the apparent focus on playing music and video....hmm...I think I will call it the PDSP.

You forgot to make it at least twice as large.
