Well, I don't for one minute think I've been wasting my time. I used to think that, and it made me very sad, but I realize that I'm just growing toward getting out of this "sitting around absorbing knowledge" state. I'm almost out of it, although I'll never stop seeking knowledge, and I'll pursue more lively things, and perhaps a formal education in the future. First I got to get rid of this ego I have, it sabotages me a lot :|

Funny, after I read that post I go to everything2 and this pops up:

"Repetition is the death of the soul." as the quote on the front page.

I heard that but differently worded

True wisdom is actually realizing how little you do know. <img src=smilies/werd.gif>

The pursuit of wisdom and understanding, in order to apply that knowledge, is a higher endeavo(u)r. One must always be careful to look within, just as they look without.

Know a little more, live a little less. Some say the opposite. The right kind of leisure is better than the wrong kind of work. We have nothing to call our own but time, the only abode of the helpless and homeless. Life is precious, and it is as foolish to spend it on mechanical tasks as to spend too much of it on lofty ones. Burden yourself neither with occupations nor with envy. You will trample on life and suffocate the spirit. Some extend this principle to knowledge, but one cannot live if one doesn't know.
