Re: Best Videogame composers
I'm a sucker for Nobuo Uematsu. And Koji Kondo. You know, the biggies. There are plenty of other composers who have written songs I like, but they're the most consistently enjoyable, that I've heard.
No one can pack as many memorable new themes into one game as Uematsu. And almost as many of my favorites are by Kondo (mostly from Zeldas, a few Mario here and there).

I like Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger), Nobuo Uematsu (FF), Koji Kondo (Mario and Zelda)
I like some others too but can't remember the names since I haven't listened to them long enough.

That is pretty much my list too, because it's pretty much the only set of composers I know. The only other composer I would add is whoever did the Donkey Kong Country SNES soundtrack. Almost makes me cry tears of joy<img src=smilies/liefde.gif>

Motoi Sakuraba, who did the Valkyrie Profile soundtrack, along with the obvious ones already mentioned.

Yes, Yuzo Koshiro rules. He did the music for Actraiser 1 & 2, and the Streets of Rage games. He fucking rules, people, he fucking rules. His music and the graphics in Actraiser 2 gave it one of the most impressive atmospheres of any game ever, say what you want about the gameplay.

I've been partial to a lot of Yasunori Mitsuda, Masashi Hamauzu, and Nobuo Uematsu tracks recently.
