Default "175" big screen!

http://www.maxtheater.com

You see these "gimmicks" on ebay and stuff...has anyone here actually BOUGHT one of these things? Come on, these things can't work can they? If anyone has bought one of these things tell me what do you get when you order one of them...and how does it EXACTLY work--because these websites won't tell you mostly because you probably could make it yourself I guess. If this even halfass works it would be cool to make one for an arcade room.

I saw some do-it-yourself projector thing once. It involved placing a magnifying lense in front of a small tv, and a few other small steps. This sounds very similar to me, especially when they call it a "exclusive high resolution 6x projection lens". Reminds me of this screen magnifier I had for my Game Gear years back.

I bet you $100 that tomorrow it will say November 07

It is possible, but only if you pay a fortune for a projector. 17 dollars? Um, I betcha if they send you anything it is information on where to buy a projector. It is a fraud.

They'll probably sell you a fresnel lens. At that price, it's a rip off. You can get one yourself for like five bucks.

I remember an old DOS screensaver that came with plans to build one of these. It consists of using a lens and a couple of cardboard boxes with your monitor. Don't expect to get a clear or bright image if you do try it out.

I googled this from another forum:

Here is the entire contents of the Max Theater Kit:
Two 6x Projection TV Fresnel Lenses
4 sets of assembly guides
Extensive troubleshooting guide
Do-It-Yourself projection screen instructions

Plus these free extras:

LCD Projector plans (including 900 pages of LCD projector discussions)
Electronics wholesale list(s)
6 Do-It-Yourself home theater audio project guides

It is basically a box for your TV with lenses to project the TV image. Here is what one looks like fully assembled:

<img src=http://24.10.133.207/bigscreen1.png><img src=http://24.10.133.207/bigscreen2.png><img src=http://24.10.133.207/bigscreen3.png>

Afterwards you stick it in front of a television set and position it so it clearly projects the image. <img src=smilies/laff.gif>
