Default Thank you, Reaper.

I thank you, even for just looking.You don't hafta do it (unless you wanna). But, if you do make the title patch, I require no credit. As Audigy said I didn't do any real work I "Just dicked around in Photoshop."

And yeah, its frustrating especially to a n00b. I tried Mr. Clicks Tile editor, the whole thing is greek to me. I tried "Tiler" the thing is Dos and says something about it not liking Windows. It made some odd noises while I tried moving around in the GUI. I tried Pic 2 SNES, it is also Dos, and my Win XP doesn't like Dos much.

My email is blaze.fox.kitsune[at]gmail.com
Should you require a PSD with removable layers.

I don't want them. Look, if I made the patch for you, you wouln't learn a thing. Like I said, I will help you, but I surely won't do your work for you. This board is for help with ROM hacking, not requests. Rememeber that. Keep trying, you'll get it

Default Whoops... sorry sir ^^;;;

Yessir... Sorry sir. ^^;;; Well, the first thing I'm gunna need is a tile editor prog that doesn't confuse me to hell, will actually run under Win XP, and won't cause my hard drive to make funny sounds. So... offsets eh? Hex... it was a bitch learning how to hack SNES saves with hex. Is there anything I need to specifically do to the image before trying to convert it to SNES standards?

This thread confuses me. Isn't that exactly what he wants? (Except that he lacks the knowledge to do so by himself, and therefore hoped to get some help)

I don't think he said anywhere that the "official" translation patch should be changed to match his preference, just that he would like help creating another patch. I'm confused about why there's any anger in this thread. <img src=smilies/eek13.gif>

Because he was hoping to get help with something he's currently unable to do by himself. Does a patch have to be everyone's cup of tea for it to be ok to help a guy make it?

I don't get it...

Well... people did kinda jab at me, no?
And I -AM- on pills, lovely caffeine pills. ^^;

Which by the way... the text is over white clouds.
Gray-ish Black... on clouds, thick white clouds man.
And I don't even give a crap about the text color.

Sorry if I'm being "defensive" but I tend to get that way whenever I feel people are being condescending towards me? And I tried to please BOTH sides, by doing an SD3 title screen design as well. Instead of saying anything positive, they just accused me of being an ingrate. I'm hella greatful for the english trans, okay?

Default Yay, someone who gets it!

Yay, another understanding person!

You're right, I never said everyone else had to change THEIR roms. I only wanted to change MY rom, which I do not plan to sell, or take credit for. I lack the ability to change the graphic on my own because I am not a God like everyone else here. I've tried messing with Mr. Clicks Tile Ed, I've tried Tiler, I've tried Pic 2 SNES, none of these things work for me cuz I don't know hex for crap, and I'm on Win XP. The listed programs on Zophar's site are DOS only. If I was on Win 98, which actually has decent Dos support maybe I wouldn't have problems.

Heh, no one here is a god; everybody here started somewhere. Things like this take time and patience.

If I remember correctly, you dont really need to know hex to use Mr. Click's TileEd. You need to set the color mode to the correct system and scroll until you find something that looks at least semi recognizable as a graphic or piece of a graphic. You'll probably want to create a custom palette (and save it) so that you can see what you're doing. For the attached example, a while back I used a screenshot taken in ZSNES of Marle to see what the proper colors were for her sprites, and adjusted the palette in TilEd accordingly. Note that different characters and backgrounds generally use different palettes.

Unfortunately I don't really remember many details of using TilEd, because I haven't tried my hand at ROM hacking in several years, but a good way to learn with any such program is to play around with them (on copies of the ROM, not the original) test out the results by running the game after incremental changes.

Jesus. I'll put it in terms you can understand, since you insist on making this a furry thing.

Imagine there's a picture you like a lot. Take a random artist. You've been a fan of the artist for years now, been watching him do different kinds of stuff and even hit him up for a few commissions. You've liked his art no matter what.

Now imagine a random person taking the image and changing it. He doesn't like that the guy draws flat chested females, so he goes around and asks other artists to take the drawing and make the breasts bigger. Or add parts that weren't there. Stuff I can't mention here due to, well, not wanting to offend others. How would the artist react? How would the other fans react? How would YOU react?

I thought so.

You know you're annoying when even Gideon Zhi of all people yells at you.

Have you tried it? XP does support DOS stuff...of course, maybe you're just referring to some hiccups in compatibility compared to 98, which I've heard can happen, though I've had no problems with the few DOS programs I still use on XP.

But it's not like this guy did anything vulgar or inherently offensive, and it's not like he's targeting another hack for defacement.What he's interested in is a new hack--one that changes the title screen to something more to his liking. Just because you could apply his proposed hack on top of of a ROM previously patched with the translation hack doesn't mean he's trying to rape the translation hack or something.

On the other hand, if your analogy was meant to imply that such a hack would be an insult to the original game itself... sheesh. Chrono Trigger is my favorite RPG, and yet it doesn't bother me that the infamous "Hey Chrono, I hear your mom is great in the sack" spoof hack is full of dumb crude humor. I just don't use that hack. And even if the author of that hack had asked for advise in making that hack, I wouldn't have minded giving him some tips, if I knew any helpful ones. Neither asking for nor giving such assistance hurts anybody. One doesn't have to be enthusiastic about a hack to feel like being nice and helping a guy out just for the sake of helping a guy out.
