FYI, most parents around my area give their kids $5 a week. I don't get any money AT ALL each week. Nor each month.

ya rly.

$100 is a lot of fucking money. Once you learn the value of a dollar you'll see what I mean.

If I have to choose between spending that $100 on 8 hours of entertainment or on two weeks' worth of food.... guess which one I'm going to pick?

> There's something called a "killer app". It happens for
> every console.

That's the stupidest thing I ever heard.

Again -- you'll see money differently in the future. Then you'll understand what I mean when I say no single video game is ever worth $100.

> Wimp......

blah blah.

> I don't see you having a whining fest about getting a
> console for a game you like; those cost more.

Where was this whining fest? All I said was "there's no way in hell I'm buying the game -- it's not worth the money". After that I've merely been replying to your comments to further explain my position.

Besides... I don't buy consoles either, so you're point here is stupid and moot. I don't think I've ever even so much as touched a PS2, or XBox in my life -- and I only played Tiger Woods Golf and I think Double Dash on my friend's Gamecube a few times like 2 years ago.

Like I said -- games just aren't worth the money to me. I'd rather not play them at all than pay money for them. Being able to get them for free via emulation is just a nice bonus.

> Have you used MS paint at all??? Surely that would show you
> how clunky a mouse is when precision is needed.

I said "good enough for me". Not "the best solution for everybody". There's a clear difference. I've already said I know it wouldn't be as good as the system.

See? Right here:

In reply to:

Did I ever say it would be? I'm sure using the mouse will be good enough for me. Does that mean it'll be as zomg awesome as the actual system? Of course not.

And yes... when I said "I'm sure"... I really did mean I'm sure.

> You think you have low income? I DON'T GET MONEY UNLESS IT'S
> CHRISTMAS!!!!

As someone already mentioned. There's a difference between gift income+no expenses and low income+expenses.

Until you have to start pawning your possesions to pay the rent (which I had to do during a tight stretch when I lived in Berkeley -- lost my whole NES collection, most of my SNES and PSX stuff, and all my N64 stuff), don't talk to me about having low income.

> I get $200 annually

But see -- that's what we call "disposable income". So you can afford to spend $100 on fun things, because that money has nowhere else to go.

> WIMP.....

blah blah. If that's all you've got then I'm about done.

> Then hold it up above your head on a sofa. Surely you CAN do
> that, right?

Holding your arms up in the air hurts after 5 or 10 minutes. A fight with gravity is the one fight you can't win.

I like your post and am only clarifying this point which seems to be getting missed:

I do not want to spend money on Dawn of Sorrow. The game doesn't mean that much to me. I'll play it if it's around, yeah. But I don't have enough desire to play it to warrant me spending a dime on this game, even if I COULD afford it. It's not worth it to me.

Whether or not the game will eventually be emulated doesn't matter either -- even if it's never emulated I still won't be willing to buy the game.

Yah, I know what you mean...a few years ago I probably would have been like pssh, but now that I'm gonna be in my own place (FINALLY) I'm really seeing what you mean...I kinda argue with the piracy aspect of it, but if the DS is no longer around in 4 - 5 years (or whatever you said) it's not such a big deal for me.

FYI, MS Paint is probably one of the best precision tools in the world of computer graphics, second to GIMP.

No there isn't. Who says so? The industry? Your opinion? Because my opinion says that no video game is worth 100 fucking dollars.

He's a wimp because he chooses not to spend his hard-earned money on a game because he doesn't think the price is justified? Um, okay.

You're fussing at him for not wanting to spend his money on a game when you have even LESS at your disposal?!

When you reach The Real World(TM), you discover that if something you want is free if you have patience, you wait. Adults have financial priorities that apparently vary from yours. You pay for your survival first (bills, gas, food, shelter), and then if you HAVE money left, you only can spend that, if you don't opt to save that to the next month's debts.

> Then hold it up above your head on a sofa. Surely you CAN do that, right?

Again, he probably has other shit to do that lay on a sofa on his back and hold an object into the air while playing it. Especially when he can just play it on a large easy-to-see monitor instead.

I hate to sound like a fucking troll here, but you need to realize that some of us have much more important responsibilities, priorities, and don't have several hours an evening to spend however we want to. Just because you have time and money to buy a game instead of opting for the cheaper alternative (read: patience), doesn't mean the rest of us do. So fuck you for attacking everyone else for saving their money wisely.

$100 could buy me a pizza to eat every day for a month.

Yeah I figured $100 could go further than just two weeks, I guess I was being generous. You could stretch it even further if you stuck to something like a Ramen and potatoes diet -- but ew. In fact, when I was broke-ass and jobless in Berkeley, I practically lived off baked potatoes because they were dirt cheap and filling.
