Default What are your eccentric properties?

I hoarde/collect:

Vincent Price and Christopher Lee DVDs & classic macabre in general
Polyester thrift store neck ties
Video Game & Demoscene audio data - source/mp3s
PC Games - retail versions
ROMs/ISOs

RIP old video game collection although still have a few rarities, like Lunar Series all systems\versions\regions.

Hmm...well, I (unsuprisingly) have a collection of Zelda games. It's missing some stuff, but it does have a few rarities, such as a Minish Cap demo cart and the Twilight Princess E3 DS gamecard trailer (complete with the E3 Press Kit of that year). Also, Tingle's Balloon Fight. :P The holy grail for me right now is a Zelda Game and Watch in good condition, preferably with a box. I'd have one already if I had enough extra cash to pay huge sums of money for one. I also would like to get Zelda's Adventure, the third and rarest of the CD-i Zelda games, but that game would cost even more than the Game and Watch.

Also, been far too fond of terrible movies lately (check out the terrible yet hillariously awesome Space Transformers for an example). You can probably get it for (literally) a couple of bucks on Amazon.

And, don't know if this is weird, but I'm really fond of tinkering, with the Wii mostly lately (and eventually, back to overclocking my computer). All the homebrew stuff, I have BootMii installed, have a bunch of hacks installed to the System Menu to the point even of applying a new skin to the menu (it's a really nice looking black one).

I'm hung like a horse!

Oh, wait, not the kind of eccentricities you were looking for?

On the collection front, I have a pretty sizable Tori Amos collection. Over 50 commercial CDs (including singles from various countries) and another 30+ bootleg concert CDs. I also have 4-tshirts, 7 books and 3 tour necklaces. I've seen her live 4 times, including twice back to back. And along the lines of The 9th Sage's mention of a Holy Grail, mine would be a pressing of the 7" she recorded when she was a teenager. The song is horrible (it was the winning entry in a contest to write a theme song for the city of Baltimore) but there were only like 10 of them printed. I've only seen one of them for sale and it was $1000, but I'll buy it the first time I have that much cash lying around. And the scary thing? I'm actually extremely tame for a Tori Amos fanatic. (Hell, I didn't even scream or faint the first time I got to hug her, though my emotions are stonewalled enough that a psychologist was convinced that I could get shot in the stomach at close range and barely register a reaction.)

I used to collect fourteen year olds (no, that's not a tricky way of saying I had sex with them) but that got to be more trouble than it was worth, so I gave it up. (Such a collection requires constant refreshing, seeing as how if you're not constantly adding to the stock, the entire thing will turn 15 and leave you with nothing.)

I have a small collection of cargo pants and silk shirts obtained from Good Will stores. It would be larger but, well, they don't seem to get those particular items in my size very often. (I'M NOT FAT! I'M BIG BONED!) (Actually, I only wear an XL in shirt and 36 or 38 pants, depending on the style.)

I decided that I wanted to be a writer when I was six years old. Since then, I've submitted a grand total of 5 short stories and 3 poems for publication, all of which were rejected. (Although on the last few story submissions, I got positive, handwritten feedback from the editors, so that's a good sign.) The only thing I've seen in print was an article that I wrote for 2600. Also, Vanity Fair published a portion of something I wrote for an eZine (without permission) and labeled it a "hacker poem" which was confusing due to the fact that it was neither a poem, nor had anything to do with technology.

I own a first edition of The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac. I paid a few hundred dollars for it and have read that particular copy twice, just so as not to be the sort of asshole that buys things and doesn't use them.

At one point in time, I owned over 30 domain names, including chokeonmycock.com (back before such a thing was an actual popular niche porn industry), fuckblockbuster.com (an anti Blockbuster video site) and supposedformerinfatuationjunkie.com (which is apparently available at the moment, unless I spelled it wrong.)

At the moment, I have approximately 10 domain names and the only site with any useful content on it at all is my ROM hacking site, which only has direct links to my projects with no descriptions at all. I have a couple of blog sites that should launch but I fucking hate Word Press and can't get it to look the way I want. (I hate Drupal even more than Word Press.)

I spend a lot of time wondering why in the fuck software programmers are so completely fucking retarded as to do shit exactly the opposite of how it should be done.

If anyone has used my table making program Table Auto-Generator, you'll see that it works completely the opposite of how every other table making program works. If I ever finish my CMS application, it will work exactly the opposite of Word Press and Drupal. (The CMS will have NO FUCKING CLUE what the site looks like. You design the site yourself, using HTML or Dream Weaver or even fucking Word, if you want, and then my CMS will just stick the fucking dynamic content into the design, not wrap a fucking template around the content.) And why in the flying fuck are all of the ROM auditing applications not made by Cowering so completely fucking retarded? Why the fuck does the only app that actually MAKES SENSE use shitty fucking incorrect dats? Why the fuck can't there be an easy to use app that utilizes No-Intro dats? YES I FUCKING SPENT TWO FUCKING HOURS TRYING TO GET ROM CENTER AND CLRMAMEPRO WORKING TODAY AND THEY'RE FUCKING RETARDED.

Hmm...not to get offtopic, but you say all auditing programs not by Cowering are terrible...does that include NSRT? From experience, it seemed like NSRT was pretty decent.

Isn't NSRT SNES exclusive? I already KNOW I don't have a complete SNES set. It's the NES and Genesis and Gameboy Color sets I'm worried about.

wow my gf would probably trip about your Tori Amos fetish.

I knew your ideas would make me think of other things i've held onto.

I have a notebook of all the replies received from the letters sent to video game companies as a teenager. such historic stuff as Nintendo's plans for their SNES CD-ROM unit hehe.

Yeah, it's SNES exclusive. One of the main devs of it is Nach, who's done a ton of work on Zsnes.

Heh, that's kind of neat. What did they tell you anyway, did they deny everything? :P

Another to add: I have a thing for Sanrio video games, particularly of the Hello Kitty variety. The very first game I ever played a part in translating was Hello Kitty World and I've released translations for half-a-dozen Sanrio games thus far, with at least 4 others currently sitting in my ROM hacking folder.

Also, I have a Hello Kitty squishee and a Hello Kitty Cubee Craft sitting between my keyboard and my monitor, staring at me right now.

Red face

I guess you could say I hoard/collect books (mostly SF, but other genres as well) and SF and Fantasy short story magazines (I have issues going back decades before I was born). I have several old edition of various Tolkien works. (Yeah, I know, huge surprise there.) I also still have collections of things that I no longer accumulate, like stamps, coins, dozens of Nintendo Power and PC Gamer magazines, not to mention boxfulls and boxfulls of Marvel comics. I still collect interesting rocks a bit, either bought or found. In general, I have difficulty of getting rid of anything, even things that I stop actively collecting. I still even have my old 386 and 486-- although I did (with some regret) get rid of one of their CRTs when it started dying. All sorts of little knickknacks litter my room, along with lots of old school notebooks (filled to varying degrees with notes and doodles) and artworks going back to nursery school. My bedroom is also littered with various salvaged electronic and electromechanical components that I sometimes play with, to little productive use. In short, I'm a packrat; I get sentimental over just about any property that I've owned for a while. =P

Eccentricities??

Got plenty. My most current one is Smallville. Just bought Season 8. (Gotta keep the set complete) Had to buy a new copy of season 4 also, unfortunately. Wore it out.

Strange fascination with hacking Pokemon games..it's almost scary.

Watching the evening news....and not believing everything.

I'm sure there's more....I just can't remember them all right now.
