Default Super Mario Bros HF V1.1

I've finally finished work on Super Mario Bros HF version 1.1! You can find the patch at my site, http://www.geocities.com/hfgamesmario.

Here are some pics! (I have more up at my site)

<img src =http://www.geocities.com/hfgamesmario/SuperMarioBrosHFV1.1title.png>
The Title Screen

<img src =http://www.geocities.com/hfgamesmario/SuperMarioBrosHFV1.1partof1.png>
Part of 1-1

<img src =http://www.geocities.com/hfgamesmario/SuperMarioBrosHFV1.1world4.png>
Part of 4-1 (I had fun making this level)

There are a few other graphic changes other than those shown in the pictures. The title screen may seem a bit plain, but the levels make up for it. The levels are designed not to be much more difficult than the original Super Mario Bros. The reason for this is that I found too many hard type hacks. I wanted to release a hack that was truly fun to play, not just work with a bunch of savestates. The graphic changes are minor but noticeable. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, feedback is appreciated. Thanks for taking your time to play my hack, and I hope you have fun!

EDIT: Bah, the .bmp's killed my bandwidth. These new ones are .png's, and they should be up within an hour or so. Sorry!

Never... EVER post .bmp screenshots

Pretty much every emu around takes .png screenshots. Use them. If .bmp is the only option in the emu, get a converter to convert to PNG (Irfanview is free and gets the job done).

But never... ever... upload .bmps.

With the the graphic changes and whatnot, I think this hack would benefit from having a visually improved Mario. The way Mario looks in SMB1 has always bothered me...

Otherwise, I actually look forward to playing this, unlike most hacks I see.

Thanks, it's appreciated. I kind of wanted to change up Mario too. I'm still thinking about it.

Yeah, I found that out the hard way...<img src=smilies/headshake.gif>
Thanks for recommending Irfanview, it did the job quite handily.

I played it for a bit. Pretty cool. The blocks used for ground in 1-1 sort of bother me though. They look really out of place.

Yeah, I know what you mean. So far I've received mixed reactions about the floor tile. Some people like it, while others think it looks out of place. I think I'm going to leave it. Nice sig, btw. <img src=smilies/thumb.gif>

Ok. I just think it looks sort of like a dance floor or something.

Yeah. The underwater tile looks a lot like a dance floor also. I just thought the designs looked neat.

I fixed the title screen so that there aren't blue spaces anymore. The better title screen is now in any future downloads of the game. <img src=smilies/cwm11.gif>
