well sorrrrrrrrry.. alm I wanted to know is what has changed which is what you should have posted in the first polace...

I believe I did in the initial post:

In reply to:

This hack is more meant for those that didn't originally like the game, because this fixes the vast majority of balance issues with the game.

Or are you too stupid to read the entire post? Well, you're ass drunk now, so pointing this out is pointless...

So far I really like this hack, having powerful magic in the beginning is useful, maybe it's just me but I don't seem to be getting my stats up much (I only played up to Fynn/Phin) , then again I seem a little too strong right now. I can't wait to see how the difficulty is balanced, this is the major flaw in all the NES FF games (Not to mention all other NES RPGs...)

Oh trust me, it gets harder. It's meant to get harder as the game goes along. One thing to keep in mind, never assume the victory.

As for the stats, are you doing the "accept + cancel" exploit? That little annoying thing was fixed. it's a patch Para made a long time ago that I didn't release, because it was never fully tested. I always thought there was a by-product as a result of the patch, but I was getting inconsistant results. It will be supplied with the next version of Jade and every other from here on out. Also, you can get it here. I'll have to make an additional mental note about this for Jade's next release. The patch was made for v1.03 of the rom, although I have no idea if it'll work with others, since I never tested the other versions.

And now that this is finally out, perhaps I should get back to work on Jade, yes?

No, that's the main reason I never beat FF2 on the NES, I hate cheating like that. I'm going to have to use this patch on my hack as well (If I ever finish it, I started around the same time you started this, it's pretty much the same concept except I had graphics ripped from FF3)

You do that

(By the way, I never did work on that DTE hack... it would be a really useful hack, I have to try it again)

My personal goal was to get people to recognize how good the original game was. I was aiming to change some of the graphics (like those crappy mountains) but I'd have to change a hell of a lot to accomidate Paramekia and Pandemonium as well. Well, that was my personal thought on the matter. *shrug*

You mean to get DTE to work in battles like the Prototype? That'd kick ass, save a hell of a lot of space for names then.

Actually, as far as I know Demi's FF2 translation still uses the Japanese DTE, the script isn't compressed at all. I plan on porting the prototype's text drawing routine (Including single-spaced dialogue) but I'm not sure if it'll be that easy. I'm hoping the prototype's routine is just slightly modified, if not I might have to write my own (Which will most likely never happen...)

(By the way, I can make a quick patch to enhance the graphics, but I'm not touching the mountains without an interface to view them as they look in-game... at least they're not as bad as FF1's)

Edit: By the way II, I forgot to save my game, so I started over and got to Phin again, this time I didn't use the magic every battle (I was just so happy it was strong), Guy got about 200 extra HP and Firion got 50 or so. Maria got none because she's in the back row... I think I'll switch her over to a lance like I usually do.
