Default SORRY, I'M A NOOOOB!!!

Ok, so i just finished getting all the downloads from here, http://www.zophar.net/psx2/pcsx2.html
which ones do I use, and how do I use them? I have been using a NES emulator with all the NES games and I thought it was about time to venture out and try the PS2 emulator. My system specs are (dont know if you need them, but here they are);

Gigabyte Motherboard: P31-3SEG
Intel Pent. D: 2.80 GHz 2.80 GHz
Alcon Ram: 2X2 GB
Harddrive: 1 TB Seagate, 320 GB Western Digital, 500 GB Western Digital
Video: ATI Sapphire PCI-E 512 DDR2
PSU: Thermaltake Black Widow 550w
CD\DVD: Sony DVD Ram
Sound: Lenoxx 5.1 Surround
OS: XP Pro sp3, Vista Ultimate 64bit, Ubuntu 8.10
Network: 3 Com 56k phone modem (I know, I know, but hey I live in the boonies, way back in the sticks where I cant get anything else).

So anyway, can anyone help me set this emulator up. Thanks in advance.
Gary

The emulator's pretty demanding.
As for the video card how many mb?
'Cuz a 128 isn't going to cut it.

At any rate, most computers can't really run a ps2 emulator too well. Especially if it isn't some kind of gaming computer. You can however easuly run SNES, PS1 and N64 emulators (among other things).

1. You're telling me that you have an ATI card with half a gig of memory... you need to be more specific with that. Is it an X800? A 43xx? what?

2. Your CPU is shit. Honestly, I'd just build a new PC before trying PS2 emulation. Besides, PS2 emulation, even with its progress, just isn't mature enough to play anything seriously. That's just my personal opinion though.

I have a Quad Core system and a Radeon 4600 HD (though this isn't the most cutting edge card or anything) with a gig of RAM and not all games run perfectly for me with this emulator. PS2 is just really demanding to emulate. I personally disagree with it not being mature enough to really play games with though...I personally have played some of Kingdom Hearts (I plan to go back and finish it eventually) as well as a bit of Persona 4 in it just fine (worked fine by me anyhow).

Yeah, PS2 emulation with a Pentium D is going to be a joke. Here's the pertinent aspects of my current primary machine:

Core i7 920 (Overclocked to 3.34GHz/3.56GHz from 2.66GHz/2.8GHz)
RAM: 6GB DDR3-1066 (Tri-channel)
GPU: GeForce GTX 260.

Even with the overclock a lot of games like pure shit (God of War especially).
I'm not really sure if this is because such games are actually all that demanding or if the PCSX2 team is doing N64 style shit by focusing on per-game compatability (JRPGs all seem to run fine on my system under it, for example).

You're also going to hit problems with the hardware GPU rendering having glitchy graphics in a lot of games, which means you have to resort to the software renderer to get proper graphics.

However, even assigning the soft GPU plugin *five* threads to work with pushes my system to the edge of catching on fire and still can't hit 60FPS most of the time.

Long story short: PS2 emulation is going to be a painful experience on your machine.
