Default New Mac Mini with Intel Core Duo (OMFG)

This is just stupid. Rosetta runs all Mac OS X programs at a really shitty speed.

Does he mean on x86? (where more emulation will need to be done?)

I believe so, since as far as i know, Rosetta only makes its home on the Intel Macs. I don't know what SonicZip wanted though. Sounds to me like he wanted another PPC revision Mac mini or something.

According to a great multitude of people, it runs Mac OS X emulators like Genesis Plus REEEALLLLY SLLLOOOOOWW.

I just needed to make fun of Apple for a change.

I think it's gorgeous, and it'll probably put out some excellent sound. On the other hand, I'm personally a stickler for the acoustic picture. One of the first things I usually do after moving into a new place is to get the speakers appropriately placed/mounted on opposite sides of the room.

(Though am I the only one who's concerned about the purpose of such a high-end system being defeated when you're piping out 128kbps AAC files purchased fom iTunes? I swear blind that it's not transparent at all, more so on some tracks I've bought than others.)

lets ponder this thought for a moment... why would emulators beslow running on Intel processors that run fast on PPC.... i betcha its because of the asm used to make portions of emulators work faster.... no shit they are going to go slower... the emulators are getting emulated

Two layers of emulation being slower than one? UNPOSSIBLE!

There are perfectly functional genesis-on-x86 emulators, and the source of many of them should compile fine on x86 OSX, since it is POSIX. So there's that option. Be warned, you actually have to know a bit about computers (or how to use google) to build from source.
