Default ARGHHH!!!

I ve got a dying fan in my computer right now, and I don t know which one it is, but the noise it s making is driving me insane! I guess I ll have to start poking around in there to find the bad fan, hopefully it s not the cpu fan.

PS: Firefox is annoying me right now, everytime I try to put in a punctuation mark it brings up the search bar on the bottom of the screen.

Try cleaning off the dust from the fan blades. Too much dust on one or more of the blades might make it spin odd. At least that's what happend to my video card fan. I cleaned the fan blades off and it no longer makes noise.

That or the fan is getting loose. I have a cheapo cool master fans that is doing that and it still spins just it sounds like a jet engine.

I'm with you on this one. One can of compressed air or a few Qtip cotton swabs ought to fix that little problem if it is dirty and I'm guessing $5 for a fan if it is bad. <img src=smilies/thumb.gif>

My computer always sounds like that. Anyone else would be convinced something inside is about to die, but it's kept making these weird noises for several months now.

It could be just dust/crap accumulation on the blades, but in my experience, if it's making a sound that bad, gunk has gotten into the bearing of the fan.

This is fixable if you know what you're doing, but fans of any kind are so cheap that it's kind of pointless to not just buy a new one.
