Default Final Fantasy I & II Advance

So yeah, FF1&2A (J) was just dumped and I started to play it. Here's the question: I don't remember there being any cave on the way north from Corneria to the Temple of Fiends. I have provided a couple of screenshots...anyone know what this is? Maybe it has something to do with accessing the new Soul of Chaos dungeon?

This cave is about halfway between Corneria and the Temple.

This apparently is a statue of Lich within the cave.

Battle screen, for shits and giggles ;o

And this is why I love my GBA.

Here's to seeing them port the rest of the NES-SNES FFs.

I first found out some details when a thread at Acmlm's board was made back in April. I then followed that to this and cave looks like the new addition. If I had to guess, kill Lich and come back. See what happens. Otherwise, kill all four fiends and gain access to the time gate and then see what happens.

They don't even try to hide it?

Yeah, that's definately Lich all right...

That looks normal from what I can tell.

Thanks for the info Narvick, now I gotta look for this.

It probably is, but I could have sworn it would be on some remote island or something that you could get to via the airship, but then again, I've heard that the Soul of Chaos consists of multiple/random dungeons so maybe there are multiple entrances as well, who knows? Good place for news/gossip is the gamespot/faqs board (I know, I know, the community sucks, but what'cha gonna do?) so I'd check around there

You're probably right because I know there's no cave like that in FF, I'd have remembered a cave with a Lich Statue in it like that. I can't wait for these to be released in the US.

I've been playing this a bit with only my memories of the English NES version to guide me (though I think I know now what "light warrior" looks like in Japanese, assuming its the two characters that appear frequently after '4'), and the question comes to mind: why is any of it in English? Shouldn't the whole text be Japanese? For example in battle, as in Disch's screen shot, "HIT" is displayed in English but what I assume is Japanese for "miss" is displayed for a miss.
I suppose this is normal, but this is the first Japanese game I've played so it seems a bit odd...

It seems to be a rather common occurrence for Japanese games to mix in a bit of english here and there from my experience. A lot of times, especially in RPGs, it seems more limited to acronyms and the like (HP, MP, etc.)... but sometimes you'll find other things scattered around like the "HIT" you mentioned.

That's rather common in japanese games. For example, Vampire Savior 2 had everything but the winning dialogs in english.

w means lol in Japanese. Seriously. It's crazy shit, like 女性のための恋愛w which means they think whatever they said was funny. And I, uh, I have no clue how this ties in with anything. Yay.

Josei no tame no renai, yum delicious best meal ever. Can I get some of that renai to go. I must remember to go slow or it'll squirt all over. Not like last time and in the eye too.
...

Bah ha ha hah I mock your japanese, shouldn't it be Josei no tame ni renai? but I was always crap with the particles in japanese so I can't be sure. But I kid, seriously I kid, Kui.
...
I think it's too late, I don't think I should have said that, but it does sounds funny and 'll keep um guessing what it really means.
