Default sega emu w/ 16:9 aspect ratio?

I noticed that gens/kega fusion/xega all seem to do a full stretch in fullscreen mode at a 4:3 aspect ratio. I have a widescreen and would like to see Sonic be a little less fat I was wondering if there were any emus that supported a correct aspect for genesis games?

thanks,
james

you mean an emulator that will stretch the image from top to bottom, but won't pull it to both ends of the screen?

shouldn't most emus have a "keep aspect ratio" option enabled?

Most don't unfortunately. I always keep my laptop videocard's 'scale to panel' option disabled because of this. I wish it was smart enough to scale the image and keep the aspect. >_>

coolie, in a word... yes...

in mame, having it set to 4:3 things are too wide, I have it set to 16:10 and the games now look normal because theres a black border on the left/right.

I know that... zsnes, mame, fce ultra, and magic engine can do this... although, I know MESS emulates genesis, albeit not very well. mess could do it , but I would rather a dedicated emulator.

Kega Fusion allows you to set the fullscreen resolution to some widescreen modes 848x480 and 1360x768 for 2 examples that I see here. Setting one of these modes, along with enabling the "Fixed Aspect (Fit)" option may do what you're looking for.

Only have a 4:3 monitor here, so can't really jugde how it would look on a widescreen all that well. The Fit option should stretch the display, while keeping it at the original aspect with the "black borders", if you set one of the wide fullscreen resolutions.
