Dual Core Processors

I was thinking about getting one. I've heard they can be a might bit unstable with some apps (AIM and games in general). The consensus on New Egg is that they're great, but there are a few dissenting voices that state the problems I've mentioned.

Anyone here have real-life experience with them? I'm looking at he AMD dual-cores, by the way (upgrading the RAM for a Socket-T board on the Intels would make it a little rich for my blood).

I have. I bought myself a new rig back in December w/ AMD64 X2 3800+. It's all a bunch of BS. The dual core chips are not unstable in any way. Those statements come from people who don't know what the hell their talking about.

I have no issues with any of my software or games in the past sevearal months I've had it. I even have my chips clocked at 2.7Ghz!! If THAT doesn't show instabilities, nothing will.

I thought it was just like 2 CPUs in 1 if a program is not using both then it only uses one.<img src=smilies/retard.gif>

I don't own one, but I'm gonna hold off on upgrading until AMD releases its new processor slot (or socket, or whatever you call it) that is supposed to be pretty damn good...it'll support dual core procs, insane RAM, all that stuff.

Plus, I want to wait until video cards that support DirectX10 start hitting the market by the end of the year. Then, I'll buy a new mobo, proc, and video card.
