Question about some ZD graphics & fonts

Font wise, what is the exact font used in the present ZD logo, and as well, is there a high resolution (or any really) image of the ZD logo available without the font across the front of it?

I believe the logo is hand drawn, and not a specific typeface. If you were desperate to remove the "Zophar's Domain" text (which is Futura Condensed, btw), your best bet is to clone it out.

virt did the logo many, many years ago and has since lost the photoshop file. There's a text-less version floating around somewhere.

If you're planning on doing a redesign of the site, the logo is the only requirement to stay the same.

I thought mushroomblue told me a few years ago he had a copy of the original psd or some format of it when I was trying to do a new logo. He doesn't lose a lot of stuff and there's a posibility he may still have a copy of it. <img src=smilies/cwm11.gif>

It is quite easy to trace it in vectors, at least the basic shape.

Hell just use the magic wand first with a really low threashhold. Then copy as a layer and clean it up and then do your vectors later. If vectors are in illustrator then just export it from photoshop since it is so much easier to use photoshop for basic stuff like layers and such. <img src=smilies/cwm11.gif>

I wouldn't know about illustrator, but I am certain I can do it in corel draw real fast, and then perhaps export it to a raster format.

Do this:

Use the pen tool in photoshop to trace the lettering. The magic wand is too dicey, and you'll never get the clean, crisp lines needed for text. By the time you mask that shit, you'll have wasted an hour on something the pen tool could've done in ten minutes.

Save the work path as a path. Save the image as a tif (you could go EPS, but for reasons I don't have time to explain, tif is better). From there, you can export the path to Illustrator, or create a raster image and use it in photoshop. I prefer Illustrator, because Illustrator is better suited for logo graphics (better gradient options, infinite scalabilitiy.)

Pen or magnetic pen. I prefer the magnetic pen and then export as a layer and clean up really closeup zoom with the eraser tool at 100% hardness so there are no fuzzy edges from antialiasing. <img src=smilies/cwm11.gif>
