Yeah, certainly we are cannon fodder for the corps. As for war and profits: Einstein said it best (and I'll paraphrase):

I don't know what weapons will be used in the 3rd world war, but the 4th will be sticks and stones.

I've never heard that saying before, kind of profound though.

I think he said that shortly after his failed attempt to stop his discoveries in nuclear energy, from falling into military applications. <img src=smilies/banghead.gif>

Checkmate.

Uh, but yeah, it's so damned sad. I can't wait until the current administration is on it's way out, but even so anyone who thinks that Obama or someone else could snap their fingers and fix everything is kidding themselves.

I hope you are making the distinction between the extremists and other practitioners of that faith.

I don't know, at the same time I kind of feel like the falling US Dollar is part of the reason the gas prices are so terrible. If that stupid war was really going to help our...'energy crisis', why hasn't it, and when is it going to? Nevermind for a second that part of the reason we are in such gigantic amazing debt is because of the war. To me at the moment, it's looking like the choice was either 'higher oil prices' or fighting a war, messing up the economy further, and higher oil prices.

Another thing too is that part of the reason our gas prices are so high is the fact that all the damn oil companies are greedy. Simple as that. They reap billions of dollars in profit, and we all get screwed because they want to keep on making record setting profits when if they dialed it back a little, they'd still be making buckets of money but it would be easier on the average american to afford the stuff.

I dunno, just thinking out loud I guess. :P

I make that distinction whenever Muslims do, but one thing moderate Muslims don't seem to be very good at is aggressively distancing themselves from the insane fascists that share their name.

It might not and it might end up being a huge mistake. It was a desperation maneuver and occupations typically don't go well (except Japan maybe.) But the alternative was conceivably worth the risk.

All this is true, and as I posted in another thread, the elite class is actively hurting our country and becoming the downfall of it. The beauty of the American Dream was that people were rewarded with wealth for their hard work; now the US turning into another serfdom where a few lazy fatasses control all the wealth because they feel 'privileged,' and that's the beginning of the end for any society. As people's hopes for wealth go, so will all the hard work and innovation.

It's like an MMO where an exploit's gone public and unpatched -- as soon as enough people are hacking, the good players all give up and leave. The wealthy elite are morons because they don't see that by trying to hoard all the value they're destroying it and making it worthless.
