Jesus is going to free us from the matrix? What's funny is that God probably looks down at these good natured people and slaps his forehead with every design. It's a really, really bad attempt to reel kids into religion via pop culture... honestly there are few things I hate more than this kind of super-bowl commercial christianity.

That's actually the most representative of all the shirts, too, being that the Matrix is actually pretty religious based and all.

I always thought it was more Ghost in the Shell based

I just wonder if anyone would actually buy those shirts. Not very many I would guess.

I haven't checked out GitS (although, GitS is similar to Ghost in the Machine, a term used in quite a few religions.. neat fact). Anywho, the basis is that the Messiah (Jesus or Neo) would sacrafice himself for the sins of all (it's literal in the Matrix -- starting the war). Plus, the fact that Trinity, Zion, etc.. are all terms based in religion.

Also, it's thought that Ghost is a reference to Ghost in the Shell.

I will admit to actually wearing a bizarre-ass religious t-shirt at some point in high school or junior high. I think it had a big picture of JC on the cross on the front and a bible verse on the back. I think I only wore it once, because I felt like a dork and really didn't want people to ask me about it. Hmm, maybe that episode is what led me down the dark path to atheism. Those shirts totally backfire!

On a related note, I think I bought the aforementioned shirt at Extravaganza! '89 (just guessing on the year) where I also bought Mega Man. At some point during the show/sale I must have set the box down, because I didn't have it when I got home. Again, I blame the shirt. As for my Mega Man 2 cart, that was "lost" by my "friend" Jason. Fucker.

I was abducted by aliens. The good news is that they were made of some substance indistinguishable from cornbread, and I was hungry.
