Default Beat Ghosts 'n Goblins on my real NES.

Yeah, I know it's not much to brag about, but I finally sat down and took the time to beat this hard ass and rigged game 2 times through. I had done it one time through and turned it off, but it was fun to do a 2nd time.

The fact you need to use the puny shield instead of the mighty dagger is annoying.

Oh, and no Game Genie was attached to the cartridge.

So, yay. It had a badly translated ending, etc. etc.

Bullshit. No one on Earth has ever gotten past the second level.

I did once, I swear to God. I must have been ten years old. I was possessed by the spirit of Dustin Hoffman-circa-Rainman himself, and made it all the way to the fourth or fifth level.

It was beautiful.

a mighty achievement indeed.

i just recently went through 1st & 2nd times on Super Ghouls and Ghosts. not as hard but still pretty frustrating at times. on this occassion i used emulation and save states. i already did it the legit way back when it was a new game. i have no need to recapture the insanity.

Super GnG was the first in the series that I had played way back when. I naturally have the cart still. I have memories of seeing it in a book and had to check it out. I later used that book to find the "level skip" code as level 1 was so hard. I actually skipped to level 5-2 as the icy level seemed interesting in the book. Didn't get too far in it at first though...

Although nowadays I can get through Super GnG rather easily. Just took getting the controls and the hang of double jumping. Regular GnG is sooo rigged at times. Guys appear out of nowhere on top of you and throw spears...

I'd say approx. 1½. I can typically beat level 1 without a hitch. It's just obtaining the dagger that's time consuming. Level 2 is harder and I typically die once. Lousy big guys. Levels 3 to 5 aren't as bad. Level 6 is the worst of the lot. Having to go through it with the shield is sooo annoying. On playthrough #2 I actually got up to the double Satans and the second one managed to get me. He's such an easy boss too... But I prevailed eventually.

Beat the arcade version, and then I'll be impressed.

I'm not kidding; NES GnG is *nothing* compared to it... Even using heavy savestate-fu, it took a friend and I several hours to beat it.

I truly believe it was created to be unfinishable.
