Default You're wrong, Linux is the best operating system *ever*.

And I will tell you why.

You see, the X-Windows system comes with a fuckload of screen savers, and one of those screensavers is called WebCollage. That one screensaver is what makes Linux the best operating system ever.

WebCollage does random searches on the web and posts up random images that it finds in a random site in those search results. Incidentally, you end up with a bunch of porn, so it's kind of a grab bag of perversion. It's kind of funny to see a guy sucking on a woman's tit, a page of text, a button saying "Previous", a picture of someone's anime collection, a web quiz result saying "You are a: Unicorn", a button saying "Next", the OpenGL logo, a plate of shit, an ugly guy, some bad fanart, and a woman frigging herself all superimposed randomly on each other. Followed by a cheerleading team, an icon of an envelope, a family picture with a skank and her ugly children, some angry piece of paper dude with Japanese writing on it, a screen capture from a sitcom, some ugly guy, another ugly guy, a bar that says "piss off", a sliced-open apple, and a GIANT FUCKING PICTURE of Julia Roberts, with an N-Gage and some more bare tits pasted on top of it.

wow, thats old

ok, this is what my understanding of what wraith is saying: all the developers working on the Linux kernel should work on making it user friendly instead of what they really would like to do.

wraith: can i ask you this, do you think Micro$oft gets the same guys who code the windows kernel to work on friendly GUIs for its config too? of course not, there are seperate developers working on that. its the same thing with Linux, except there are more people working on the kernel than the GUI (and also the people who are working on nice interfaces dont all work on the same interface project, and is spread over serverl projects, which isnt totally a bad thing).

if you feel that they need an extra guy to help with making Linux more user friendly, then why dont you help? you could help with an already exisiting application project, start your own, make an idoit proof disto or documentation or help the guys that are actually doing this some how. just an idea

So can I. Like making an emulator that, when run on English Windows, sends the message box "I HATE YOU!!!!" and then deletes every unlocked file in your entire Windows folder.

Oh wait, someone did that.

Hm, that IS pretty bad. What was it supposedly emulating?

I was always taught in programming class to pretend everyone using it (the program you're creating) is a moron. That's why any good program, no matter how easy it is to use will have some dude complaining because it's too hard to use. :P

Yeh, I know I haven't added much recently. I'm burned out right now, taking a break.

Mind you, I've been assured by a knowledgeable friend that nearly all DS development won't bother using the advanced ARMv5 opcodes, hence all I've had to do is add CLZ and I'm ok (for now).

I'm considering changing the name of the emulator, since it's gonna be forever before I can begin emulating a DS. Someone suggested "GBAemu 0.00000000001b", doesn't sound so bad. Also been hearing criticism towards the fact that I'm working on GBA before moving on to DS. I'm not sure people realise the similarities; the DS has two of the GBAs GPU cores, and a near-identical CPU. It seems wise to start on a GBA base.

hah!

I'm not sure if he realizes the lack of similarities in that nobody's argued about whether or not the DS has an ARM9 processor along with the GBA's ARM7 processor and two of the GBA's chipsets, but he seems to be missing the point that emulating the 3D hardware is going to be a pisser, likewise with the fact that the ROMs are fucking encrypted. I've heard it likened to a fixed-point hardware implementation of OpenGL, and regardless of whether you could nearly translate the library calls yourself, to emulate it will be a bitch. Nobody gives a flying fuck whether he emulates an ARM9 core and the GBA's GPU. It's been done before, and it's not difficult.

Yeah, I can see how easy it is to get burned out, what with releasing versions with no changes and that whole "doing nothing" stint that he had going.
