I've heard a lot of bad press on it. I decided to go with Call of Duty instead since I've never really played a WWII FPS.

We got one.

We were the very first person at our local GameStop to walk out the door with one. (I was second in line when preorders opened a month ago)

We got Red Steel, Trauma Center, Zelda, and Excite Truck.

Red Steel doesn't seem like it sucks that much... reminds me a lot of GoldenEye. The graphics suck a bit, but I really don't know what to compare it to since I don't know that much about first person shooters other than that they make me motion sick.

Zelda, oh man, it's beautiful, and there are really cute creatures, and the Wiimote integration is pretty much perfect. You can play through most of the game with the analog stick on the nunchuk and the buttons on the Wiimote, but battles and fishing and things have you shaking things around, but it feels completely natural. Jeremy's a pro at whacking monsters around. :P

We haven't played Trauma Center yet.. I'm saving that one for tomorrow night. I hope it's not as hard as the DS version is.

I can't wait to bring the system to our parents' houses this holiday season so we can show it off.

My first experiences with Red Steel was in a multiplayer match with my friend and we just could not stop our guys from spinning around. Aiming was very tricky. If you wanted to aim with any sort of precision, you had to stop moving.

I tried the single player game and it was no better.

The graphics are pretty bad. The models are completely worthless, their mouths aren't sync'd, and have a strange white aura to them. Every so often, there will be some cool textures or special effects, but I'd say that a good 70% of the graphics are terrible.

The cutscenes are pretty neat. I really can't explain them, but they have a comic book feel to them.

After I made that first post, I did go back and play the game some more. It helps to think of the game as a lightgun game where you can freely move around. You really can't charge into a room, guns blazing, and expect to hit anything with any sort of accuracy. You have to walk into a room, find some cover, and pick off the enemies one by one.

The zooming feature is pretty cool. Hold A to lock onto an enemy, push the remote forward, and it zooms in.

I will say this about Red Steel, the other Wii games, and about the console itself - there is a definate learning curve. We all sucked ass at Wii Sports for the first few rounds. But after you get used to the remote and how it works, you pick it up fast.

I am willing to give Red Steel a shot. I do have component cables coming soon and I really think that there will be a difference. That's what people are saying online, at least.

Miis are really fantastic.

I got mine by waiting five hours outside of the Nintendo World Store in Manhattan. Really fun people on that line. All huge Nintendo fans, and all were keeping their systems (I couldn't find anyone that was reselling it on eBay). Best part of the Nintendo World Store? Largest stock of Wiis in the country. They had over 10,000 systems. If you live near New York City, go immediately! You can probably get one (but don't wait...line was a thousand deep yesterday).

Anyhow, I'm loving the system so far. Very very tiny. The Wii Remote is so much smaller than it seems in pictures. Great weight, button placement, etc. The only game I have is Wii Sports, because I was directed by my family to only get the system (they all want to get me the games).

Impressions on Wii Sports: Bowling is AWESOME. It feels incredibly accurate to the real thing. In fact, I liked all the Wii Sports games except for Boxing, but maybe I need more time with it.

The only trouble I had with Wii was connecting it to the internet. I'm pretty sure it's my fault, tho'. My router has some wonky settings, and I think I need to fix it before the Wii will operate with it. That will be my goal tonight---get Wii online, and then buy Super Mario 64 for the VC

Right now I love the Wii, but I def. need to try more games with it. Get back to me in six months, and we'll see how it all holds up.

Another sweet part of getting the system at Nintendo World Store---they gave out free plush Mario and Yoshi key ring dolls. Totally sweet.

chilled (literally) outside a braintree, ma best buy store since 10:30pm with a few people. i was 57th in line, the store had 102 consoles and 80 copies of zelda.
a few things to note:
a) hot cocoa + baileys = delicious
b) an http://www.expressfashion.com/express pullup and t-shirt is not enough to brave 35F
c) i'm tired. so much that i've hardly used the ol' wii.

Wii Boxing was the last game my friend and I tried and we thought it was surprisingly fun. We needed sleep at that point so it was a blast flailing around and kicking each others ass.

I think it'll be absolutely fantastic to play loaded at a party.

Same here. I've been told that there will be some Wiis in about 2 weeks. If I can't get one then, I'll wait 2 more weeks.

We all know that we'll be able to get one before or around the 25 of December, I can wait. Anyway, I have school exams and a lot of homework so I would have had the time to play atm. And PS3 can kiss my stinky hairy ass at 650 $

Generally, in these types of threads, I discard the entire conversation and make some sort of pro-SNES comment, followed by the graemlin.

But fuck that, man, I want a Wii.
