Default Religious Stupidity

There is a Rubella outbreak in a cristian school in Canada. Somthing like 60 percent of the parents of children in that school refuse to vaccinage their children because they feel it is against god's will.

Pure stupidity.

A loving God wants you to get sick and die.

Obtaining the knowledge to prevent sickness was a gift. Using that gift is against his will. Right

Further evidence that natural selection is God's will.

I had the same thought, but seriously though, it doesn't seem fair that the kids have to risk paying so dearly for their parents beliefs.

Well, they suffer for 3 days with a fever and swollen lymph nodes then.

But didn't it become standard to get that vaccination up here? Last I recall I was almost quarantined to my house for not getting one...Whether it was to stop Rubella or not (I think it was for Smallpox, amongst other things, possibly rubella), I don't know. But you need to get it twice, once when you're five, then when you're 15.

I have you beat.

A girl in my class is a die-hard christian. Somehow, her and another student got on the subject of gayness being okay or not okay. The christian says "acording to the bible, if you are gay, you go to hell". than the other girl says, "so why don't they just not be gay.." and the christian says, "they can't help it, they are born gay."

At this point I must enter the discussion.

I say, "Wait, so they are BORN gay, but god is going to make them rot in hell for all eternity for it?"

She didn't have any answer for me.

That sounds more like an idiot claiming to be a Christian. All of the Christians I know are a lot smarter. For one, they all recognize that being "gay" is something that such person chooses, and that it does not mean an irrevocable sentence to hell.

Of course, I shouldn't have to mention the fact that there are "bad religious people" in every religion. Remember, stupidity knows no boundaries.
