I tried hexecute. I started by opening the ROM file. then I went over to "Special" menu, and opened the table file "DTETable.tbl" in the FFH folder (renamed because I also put ffhplus in there)
I keep trying to search for text, but it still looks like gibberish to me.. am I doing something wrong?
edit: nevermind, found it. search function is fucking useless for some reason.

My guess would be that the search function doesn't handle DTE. I doubt that any hex editor has support for searching with DTE because it would most likely be a complete pain in the ass to code, if I'm not mistaken.

The DOS version of Thingy can search for DTE/MTE. It's what I used up until the last project I worked on (The Valis translation).

It works in XP, but it's such a pain in the ass to use that I can't imagine it would be all that useful since you've already found the text. (And if it didn't work in XP or Vista or 7, then it's still 99% likely to work in DOS Box so compatibility isn't really an issue with DOS applications anymore.)

Apparently FCEUX allows you to search for table converted text in it's hex editor, so long as you load the table.

I love this freaking emulator, it does everything but tapdance! lol and that's probably in the next release
