Default Emu's on the PSP

it would be pretty cool if someone can find a way to put SNES, Genesis, GBA, or any other emulators on the psp...I think the psp's controls were made to play these emu's (not really, but you know wat im saying)...If theres any programmers out there, I think that this would be a good "next" project for you to work on

Yeah, good luck with that. You know, instead of coming here and requesting that we make emulators for a brand new system, how about you be patient.

Yea, instead of coming here posting maybe you should go read a book.

Yea but seriously, I agree to a degree...maybe he should have posted questions instead of just something like that. More like "would it be possible" instead of "I think it would so when do we get the emuz.". <img src=smilies/thumb.gif>

The begining of the post was ok, it's just that that last sentence sounded kind of like someone walking into a room and saying "Hey, you know what would be super-cool? If one of you made us all some sandwiches. Neato, am I right?".

But he obviously didn't mean badly by it, and he didn't rudely demand anything, like some newcomers do. He's just new and a little inexperienced (like we all were at one time or another), so we should probably cut him some slack.

I suggest you hop on EFnet and idle in #pspdev. You'll hear it there first, surely.

First of all, they need to figure out how to get homebrew stuff to execute from memory sticks.

Sounds like someone'd better get cracking on learning his MIPS assembler. That would be a good project for you to work on. <img src=smilies/headshake.gif>

well, I didn't mean to sound like such a dick when I wrote that. I was tired. I wanted to just post something along the lines of "It's a new system, it will take some time and people are already working on it. A better question would be 'Are any of you doing some psp work?' instead of 'You guys should do some psp work'"

Sorry for the bitter first post.

It's no big deal; no need to worry about it. =)

Oy, it just recently came out...it was months before anyone could even think of running homebrew code on the Nintendo DS...and even then that was way more quickly than anyone thought would happen. Plus it's got a leg up on the PSP because of the emulators currently available for the GBA...some of those could (to my knowledge) be ported without a lot of difficulty to the NDS because of the shared processor and very similar 2-D graphics modes. Sound is something else though...I don't think anyone has gotten the NDS's soundchip cracked yet.

As far as gettting homebrew stuff to run off of the memory stick it shouldn't be too hard considering that sony already has a "play game from memory card" function built into the psp. It's really just a mater of tricking that into running an emu and then having the emu pick up the roms. I think what would be more of a problem is the screen.
Would we simply put bars on the sides or program the emu to stretch the image to fit...
