VGM of course doesn't keep timestamps in the full system clock resolution, so there is room for a more accurate format. Whether this inaccuracy has noticeable affects on any music is not known.

Ripped formats (like NSF and GBS) in some ways can never be as accurate as logs, because the music playback code is modified slightly during the ripping process, and the main game code isn't running. The main effect will be miniscule timing differences that usually won't affect sound output.

A problem with logs is that any inaccuracies in the emulator used to make the log will be preserved. With a ripped file, improvements in emulation will benefit all current rips without any effort.
