In my case, I really don't want to mess with taking a television apart. I was thinking of using straps bolted to the inside of the cabinet to secure the television in place... Do you think this won't...

Yes, but at least with the cables closer together I can perform some sort of cable management. You were talking about wiring the controls to the contacts on a keyboard, right?
