N64 rom can be extract. It amazing!

29/01/2010, accidentally I used 7zip and open V-Rally Edition 99 (E) [!].z64. Look http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/2026/openn64rom.png
I can extract files in roms, however another roms can't be open with 7zip. Maybe them were encrypted . Hope anyone can program extract n64 rom and maybe them will easy mod

I don't have a computer to check this with, so I can't verify it, but if it is true, it could only mean that the ROM is entirely compressed with something that 7zip was able to recognize (by that I mean most of it was compressed except probably a header and programming). Sounds kind of farfetched, but I guess stranger things have happened. O_o Hmm....I wonder what the overhead of such a compression schema would be (the entire ROM I mean)?

Oh, also, I doubt you would find this very often, decongamco. This pretty much has to be an out and out "once in a blue moon" happening.

Heh, awesome, there's a zip at offset 0x15db10. Nice find.

Maybe only rom can be extract, I used hex to open rom and see it load files . If using hex to open another rom, can see text (can be translate)

You should delete that. It is against the rules to post roms, or any other illegal material here.

Totally...I mean, what are the odds of this even? :D

even though I thought this to be a cool find, because no one else has yet to do it, I am still put off by this thread with the yoda english

U.S. offset is at 153170 but for some strange reason 7zip hated the rom by itself so I had to cut and paste the data in a new file and that seemed to work. I have seen shit like this before (hidden rars and mp3s in jpgs) Depends if the program used is strict about headers.

*.n2d files ...

Would you prefer that the author have posted in his native language, thus rendering the post readable to far fewer people? And please, for the sake of the children, if you're going to criticize someone's grammar, please do so with grammatically correct sentences.

Hiding files within images is referred to as steganography and is a common cryptographic process. However, the instance referred to in this thread is clearly unrelated to cryptography.

What's sad is that there is no evidence that anyone has attempted to edit the aforementioned files to see if they can be reinserted and utilized properly within the ROM. This is a ROM hacking board, is it not? Yes, knowing is half the battle but nobody has ever won a war with half of a battle.

Didn't work for me, I'm very interested in ripping music from Rayman 2 and bomberman 64.
